Harper Collins Publishers
With a heritage stretching back nearly 200 years, HarperCollins is one of the world’s foremost English-language publishers, offering the best-quality content right across the spectrum, from enduring classics to cutting-edge contemporary fiction; from digital dictionaries to online curricula; and pretty much everything in between.
Challenge
Develop Harper publishing strategy within the paper and digital dictionary markets delivering growth both in sales and market share across these platforms in the English and Bi-lingual markets.
Solution
By immersing ourselves in virtual spaces and observing behaviours and patterns in online conversations we gained a better understanding into dictionaries and language learning. Having harvested online artefacts (online conversations, screenshots and AV resources) workshops were held bringing together the Harper Collins team with dictionary and language learning experts.
Results
Taking key findings from the virtual ethnography phase into the quantitative phase to thoroughly test and refine future product offerings.
Harper Collins were the first trade publisher to digitise its content and create a global digital warehouse to protect the rights of its authors, meet consumer demand and generate additional business opportunities.
