Alterian Content Manager (ACM) has ease of use baked in with three options; our unique Smart Client desktop tool, our rich Web Client and Microsoft Word & Outlook , that all enable easy user adoption with little to no training. In addition our unique Page Studio feature gives content authors control over the layout of their pages.
Smart Client
Smart Client is a desktop application that is intuitive to use, aimed at the
non-technical business user. Being on the desktop it can fully leverage the other desktop tools that are available such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and your favorite image editing application, accelerating its adoption by the contributing community. Put simply; people love to use Smart Client.
Some of the unique features of Smart Client:
- Drag an image , or even an entire folder, straight into the repository
- Check-out a content item and edit it offline
- Click on an item in ACM and directly edit it in a native application such Photoshop, then save it straight back in to the repository
Web Client
We were the first major Web Content Management vendor to embrace new techniques (such as AJAX) to build a web application that would behave like a desktop tool with no browser plug-ins or downloads.
The result is our Web Client, which runs on all major browsers: Internet Explorer , Firefox , Google Chrome and Safari .It enables the user to drag and drop items, right click to perform actions and to get dynamic updates from the server without refreshing the whole page. It is like using a desktop application - in a browser.
Page Studio
ACM’s Page Studio feature takes gives non-technical users the ability to manage more than just the content and structure of their sites. Page Studio enables everyone to design their own brand-consistent page layouts via a user-friendly, configurable palette of options. Users can:
- Determine the layout of an individual web page or set of pages;
- Choose where images and text fields are placed on the page to suit the content, without the need for templates to be modified;
- Enhance the page even more; how about picking a Google Maps component, and dropping it on your page? Just pick one of the many components available and configure them to suit your needs.
